Be an Advocate for your Community
Since the start of 2014 we have already seen dozens of cases of improper document disposal. In many of these cases it has effected peoples lives when their personal information is stolen, sold or used. This week an Arizona court ended up in the news after they had been caught throwing case files in a public recycling bin:
“The person who found these documents gathered enough of them to show that many of the court records showed Social Security Numbers of not only criminal offenders, but of divorcing couples and their children (including children’s names, birth dates, addresses, and a list of couples assets). Social Security numbers of juvenile offenders and their parents or guardians were also tossed in the bin.”
BEST Shredding wants to challenge you to be an advocate for your community. You can do this yourself by properly destructing sensitive documents and by ensuring that your place of work, the places you shop and services you utilize are taking all of the measures necessary to protect you and the people around you.
