Personal Information Protection Act
Are you aware that British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act came into effect January 1, 2004? PIPA sets out the ground rules for how private sector and not‐for‐profit organizations may collect, use, store and disclose information about clients, customers, employees and volunteers.
PIPA gives you the right to see, and ask for corrections to personal information an organization may have about you. If you think the organization is not living up to its responsibilities under the law, you have the right to take the matter to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of British Columbia.
Make sure you are protecting the rights of your clients, customers, employers and volunteers by using Best Shredding’s confidential document destruction service.
